A short journey through time
into the history of DTG

The first cooperative federation of private shipping operators was in existence as early as 1898. At the time it was known as the TGB (Transport - Genossenschaft zu Berlin – Transport Federation of Berlin), the first cooperative of the various predecessors, known today as the DTG. The next hundred years saw the addition of numerous new companies and amalgamations. In 1990, the regionally operating fleet of the Transport-Genossenschaft Binnenschifffahrt eG (Inland Waterways Transport Cooperative) and the Partikulier-Transport-Genossenschaft (Private Shippers Transport Cooperative) Jus et Justitia eG merged to form today’s DTG; more or less a new confederation of canal and Rhine shipping.
Today, DTG operates throughout Germany with over 20 employees and a fleet of 138 vessels, and has branch offices Andernach, Hamburg, Magdeburg and Minden as well as representative offices in Antwerp, Rotterdam and Stettin.
The head office of DTG is located in Duisburg.
